Principal and CPA Accountant

Tim Fanous is a CPA-qualified accountant and registered tax agent with more than 20 years’ experience spanning sales, business services, and senior roles in large multinational corporates. His unique career path combines strong technical expertise with practical business insight, allowing him to guide clients through complex financial decisions with confidence and clarity.

Tim’s journey began in retail sales in 2002, where he learned first-hand the importance of customer service, operational efficiency, and driving results. This early exposure to business fundamentals sparked his interest in accounting, leading him to roles in boutique and mid-tier accounting firms. There, he developed a deep understanding of SMEs and high-net-worth clients, becoming known for his ability to solve problems, navigate challenges, and deliver tailored strategies for growth.

He later advanced into finance positions with some of Australia’s most recognised brands, including Lion, Snack Brands Australia, and Foxtel. These roles saw him lead financial reporting, partner with executives on budgeting and forecasting, and provide insights that directly influenced business performance. His work in the FMCG and media sectors strengthened his commercial acumen and honed his ability to turn numbers into actionable strategies.

In 2014, Tim launched Fanous Business & Tax Advisory, building a loyal client base through personal referrals and a reputation for practical, results-driven advice. After 12 successful years, the firm has relaunched as Bellwether Accountants & Advisors — continuing the same commitment to guiding individuals and businesses, with a refined focus on business advisory, Small Business Restructures (SBRs) and Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
